Camp DIspatches

July 5, 2018

Hey, campers!

We are always looking for new and exciting ways to showcase the brilliance of our campers and this year we’re rolling out a juicy new event inspired by our monthly Camp Jams. Instead of one of our usual keynote spots, we’ll be hosting a Live Campfire Talks featuring campers as our speakers!

If you caught the Campfire Talks that we did last year on a zoom call, then you’ll be familiar with the format. Ten campers will give an Ignite (or PechaKucha) style talk, with a classic GLP flair. Each talk will have 18 slides set to advance on autopilot every 18 seconds (total time – 5 mins, 24 seconds).

Your talk can be informative, funny, inspirational, surprising, or just plain fascinating. The only rule is that you can’t talk about what you do for work.

While we’d LOVE to invite everyone to participate, since we’ve only got an hour (we’re working on the time-warp thing, but haven’t figured it out yet!), we’ll have room for 10 campers to present. If you’re interested in becoming one of the 10 presenters, here’s how it will work –

First, we’ll ask you to share more about your presentation idea in a simple application. The application can be found HERE will be open July 5th and closes July 25th.

We’ll take all the topic proposals and put them (anonymously) into a poll where all campers can vote on what they’d most like to hear about at camp. Voting will be open July 26th – 31st.

We’ll take the top ten most popular proposals and announce our lineup by August 1st.

If you’re selected you’ll have a little over two weeks to get your slides done and practice your presentation so you’re ready for the big stage!

Also, since we’re trying to maximize opportunities for as many campers to share from the stage as possible during camp, if you are one of the ten selected, we’d ask that you not to put your name down for the talent show so we can share the spotlight with as many campers as possible.

We can’t wait to see what you come up with. 🙂

Camp Hugs,

Stephanie & The GLP Camp Crew
